Great piece. I can’t imagine how lonely Drake and Future must be. Still, I like low stakes drama, so let’s go!

Rap talk, let’s go! I was happy to see some Drake slander but more than anything him and Future and the masculinity they’ve been taught, that we’ve all been taught, makes me sad. We can be so much more.

I love how you connected this back to all men. Especially the bit about supporting men when they make different choices. I listen to Kdot and Cole faithfully. I think sometimes about what they say can seep into one’s unconscious.

I also grew up in the golden age of hip-hop, and am a huge Kendrick fan. But I digress. I think there's a lot there in terms of being witness to masculinity beef in both the lyrical (toxic rap) and public (socials etc) domains, and how people (particularly cis-het men) respond to it. I'm curious to see how people will respond to it, because to me that says as much about modern masculinity as does the beef itself. It would be great to see a follow-up after a few weeks!

Very well written I used to listen to Future a lot because of them trap beats but after awhile him and a lot of other artists seem miserable with all the drug talk and loneliness you hit it right on the head

I don't even listen to these guys but I still loved this. Yes. Exactly your last paragraph.
