People who look like you and me, Stanley, inevitably will or have faced this. It’s a privilege to tell these stories, especially because some of us are no longer alive to tell them. Our living is a testimony. Some stories have to be told, on one hand because their lives were taken, and two, because we don’t know when this opportunity can be taken from us as well. I say this often, but we are writing ourselves into a future we can’t guarantee we will be in. While the joy is beautiful, as a father now, I feel responsible to prepare him, already, for the ugly.
No words. I so badly want this to change.
Thanks for reading. Things can and will change, maybe not during our time, but as long as we keep caring, and keep trying things will begin to shift.
I have a letter to Myles about this very same thing. I’ve been avoiding it, but this is nudging me to it. Thank you for the push bro.
Take your time fam, I know we all will need to have this conversation with our kids. But lets lean into joy for as long as we can, first.

Beautiful. Thank you for bringing all these people back to mind.
