This reminds me of a paper from an International Relations journal which surveyed civil wars, sectarian conflicts and war crimes committed by one demographic against another - and found that, invariably, the cases where a meaningful peace was achieved all involved some form of Truth and Reconciliation-style reckoning between the groups

A lot of other countries also need to heal and provide reparations to countries and citizens they have wronged, and continue to harm.
