I saw Superman on Sunday and thought it was pretty good.
Watching him save the squirrel was cute. Take care of the lil things.🥰
Lex is a prime example of what a man can do when he has money, power and minions. Lex basically said fuck the world and fuck Superman. When we see how our world is today, it baffles me that people are willing to support people like that when money talks.
Superman doesn't owe the world anything yet he feels obligated to do the right thing. Saving the world seems like the right thing to do but there are people working tirelessly everyday thinking of new ways to watch it burn.
You can always be good in a world filled with evil. Everyday you wake up you decide who you want to be.
I haven't seen the movie yet. I haven't been interested in Superman since Christopher Reeve played him. After reading your essay, I am excited to see this movie. Spreading kindness and hope are two things that I can get behind, and that this country DESPERATELY needs. Thank you for your insightful review, Stanley.
I saw Superman last Sunday with a friend. We are DC fans that have looked forward to James Gunn's promise and I wasn't disappointed. Whilst my friend has his reservations about the movie, everything you said is exactly how I felt about it. Haven't stopped talking about it ever since and if I could afford to, I'd watch it again. Superman is timely and very much needed in a world that seems to have forgotten what being kind is about. David Corenswet did a phenomenal job in portraying the character and his alter ego and I'm looking forward to more of him in the DCU.
Yes. I know it's possible to remain good. It always isn't easy, true. But we have to stay grounded to truth. Superman did same. When he found out the truth about his purpose or rather, that which his parents intended for him, he had every right to go south, especially after most people turned his back on him. But he didn't let that deter him from what he truly believed was the right thing to do. He stayed grounded and dare I day, hopeful.
To build a much more empathetic society, like I've always believed, is something that should begin from the most functional unit of the society—our families. If truly we want this for the future, then we have to work on ourselves mentally and emotionally to become better parents so as to instill positive values in our children who will in turn, hopefully become better individuals in the society
