I know I’m late but this was very well articulated. Drake was like the voice of our generation at one point. I remember when he and Pusha T was beefing and even though Pusha ate him up in his rap, most of us were like “so? That’s still Drake and I ride for my homie!” lol and now when I see him or hear him, I’m disgusted and sad. Never would I have thought ten years ago this is where the 2 biggest stars of Young Money would have ended up. And I think it truly hurts a lot of us because they were so major and important to our growing up at a crazy time in our lives. But it seems like we grew up and they just switch d focus to the next younger generation. 🤷🏾♂️ I know I didn’t articulate as well as you did but just throwing my two cents in lol
Thanks for reading, and I'm happy to know that other people feel the same disappointment at what this man has become. I'm hoping this new smoke from Kendrick wakes him up though.
Unfortunately, he had become the very persona I feel he used to disparage. His ego, as well as NM’s, has gone straight to their heads and I don’t think anything will change him outside of Beyoncé sitting him down and telling him to stop. lol Jay already tried and you see where that got us. But he seems to idolize her so maybe that will help. 🤷🏾♂️ I’ll tell you one thing tho, I feel like him and her (d & nm) did a lot to try and rewrite how hip hop - particularly battles - are looked at in this generation. And not in a good way. But Kendrick and JCole seem to be bringing back real bars and rhymes and still managing to respect each other (somewhat) in the process. And that’s exciting to see again. Remember when Shether came out and the excitement in hip hop that was palpable and then it was gone? 😩
Omg I couldn’t agree more! I heard “views” and didn’t connect to one song! “nothing was the same” was a good album too though.
Draaaaaake!?!?! *Soulja voice*
Haha, thanks for reading!
