I don't watch movies about slavery or life in neighborhoods where guns and drugs are dropped off by others. The last movie I watched about violence in a black neighborhood was Boys 'n the Hood. Since that movie, most movies are filled with gratuitous violence that I feel normalizes cruelty. I don't want to be desensitized. I always want to feel compassion for people who are hurt. I am so sorry that you were mistreated by almost everyone in what should have been a village that nurtured you. May the creator continue you to bless you for holding on to your humanity and not being able to kill a helpless animal. And may he bless Lavelle for showing you his humanity by not belittling you for not being about to kill. Thank for letting me look at what it feels like to be mistreated by everyone in your surroundings, yet you remain humane.
